F-250 7.3L questions??

Post by icem237 » Thu Nov 08, 2007 1:08 pm

I was wondering if advancing or retarding injector timing on my 2001 F-250 7.3 TD will render any additional improvement? I know that there is a mod for the IDM that makes the injectors stay open longer . I didnt know if raising the injector timing would do the same or what.

My truck has no major mods other than the exhaust is open, no cat or muffler. Also has the stock air intake filter box taken out and a free flowing type installed. Has a nice turbo whistle now.

I have my truck tunes for 50, 75, and 100. Just trying to squeeze lil more out of the stock components and special forces!!! Love sniper!

Yes, on a stock truck you can advance injector timing a couple degrees and you will notice an improvement. An obvious sign that you advanced too much would be engine rattle (kinda like engine ping on a gas motor).

Ok , ill try it and see. I have a 3.5in turndown pipe and stacks that are 5in from the down pipe to the chrome stacks that are 6in. , would puting the downpipe at 3.5 and exhaust at 6in. be appropriate? Kind a silly question in a way i guess but i just want to be sure.

Does anyone know what maximum safe boost is on the stock Garret turbo? I have a manualy adjustable releif valve (i think thats what its called.) , The stock one had a red vacum line running to it.

Also does special forces fool the computer into to thinking boost pressure is lower than what it really is or should i purchase one of the boost fooler cables out there?

it is best to keep it maxed to 28 pounds of boost on the stock turbo. You really don't need a wastegate with completely stock injectors because you really don't have the fuel to spin the stock turbo any harder.

Our software does not trick the computer into thinking it running lower boost than it actually is. To prevent the light coming on for "overboost" (23psi +) you would need to get the boost fooler cable.
