2001 ford taurus

Post by 92dohcFox » Thu Oct 08, 2015 11:01 am

have sniper tuner, you all know me. was wonder what to do and start with a turd vehicle as this for my winter beater to maybe get some better mileage, little more go, and i definetly want to firm up the lazy shifts. secondly, do i just remove some of the tunes from the slots in the programmer and save them elsewhere since i'm switching car??? and any other hints you can give me would be appreciated! -- Joe

It's always good to save (backup) good tunes. However, you cannot just remove them from the Interface. You can only override them with new files.
The tune created by SF is a little conservative so after making your tune, I would go back into the tune and add another 1 degree global timing and 1 degree at low, mid and high timing.

There could be several reasons why you're getting the "Unable to locate a file...."
1. The stock file is NOT in the "Original Files" folder
2. The "Original Files" folder is NOT in the right location.
3. The stock file is corrupt or the wrong size (should be aprox. 224kb)
4. You're typing in the wrong code for the computer box code in the SF software
5. The required template is not in the "Templates" or "TRM Files" folder (BWAK2.trm)

Everything checked ok. 225kb and all files in the correct location, except there is no BWAK2 in my trm files folder which my pcm is BWAK2.VMC3.PCM. Everything works fine with my other vehicle.

That would explain the problem. Please send me a email at snipertuned@yahoo.com requesting a BWAK2.trm file and I'll send it.
