Problem with 00 Mustang v6

Post by Jones1783 » Thu Jun 18, 2015 2:59 pm

Hi i have recently built a 00 mustang v6, i have upgraded multiple parts of the engine and am having problems tuning it in correctly. Things that i have done include M90 Supercharger pushing 6lbs, also 32lb injectors, Coil pack and wires, off road cat-less x-pipe with long tube headers ( pypes performance), I made a custom fuel rail, Mild Cam.

At first i had a problem with it running really rich so i went into the tuning software and played around a little bit and was able to get it to run leaner by tuning it with 24lb injectors. before i did that i could barley take it above 2000rpm, afterwards i was able to do my first test pull but it still cuts out a 4500rpm. when i started looking at the data i noticed that my tps isn't reading so i replaced it. the tps volts were holding at .7711 and after i replaced it it sat at .4199, also note that my speedo don't work. so replacing the tps didn't help anything now its running like a have a bad tps with rpm holding at 1500.

You shouldnt have to tune it with 24lb injectors. You should tune with correct injector value then adjust fuel with low mid high fuel settings and then also your global pt and global ft fuel trims. Thats what i did.

Is the tps adjustable?

No the tps is just a stock sensor, but it is stock for a 00 mustang v6 and I think I need a sensor for the thunderbird sc. Would any body know if I splice in a new adapter if the volt will work the same way, because the only thing I can think is I need to get my sensors working in perfect order. And about further adjusting fuel I only have special forces does it let me do those adjustments

OK just wanted to post that i did figure out how to get to the fine tuning. Sorry this is not just my first build, but also my first tune I have a lot to learn. I will be on here asking questions from time to time so the support would be awesome and well appreciated. I have order some more parts from reading on this form i have realized that i am going to need a fuel/air gauge.

As 92dohcFox mentioned, you should not have had to select different fuel injector size. What MAF do you have on the car?

yeah wow dude you definetly need a wideband setup, should never do any tuning without one. good way to blow it up in one trip down the street, or some serious damage. that is the first thing you should get. and second READ the owners manual of the tunning kit. the fuel adjustments can be a little confusing at first, if you have any questions post, sorry been busy haven't had chance to reply. GET THE INNOVATE MTX-L KIT, and follow adjustment procedures in manual (its easy).
