First Diesel experience

Post by DirtyDirtyRacing » Mon Oct 08, 2007 1:48 am

We ended up doing a 75 HP tune using Special Forces on an 04 6.0 6 speed quad cab truck , with big lift and 39.5 tires .....truck immediately pulled like no tomorrow , this thing is a beast now , blows plenty of smoke now too LOL , customer called me today to tell me that not only is the truck running great but his highway mileage is a hell of alot better , he hasn't checked the mileage yet but he said its noticeably better .........I will post back with his mileage once he checks it to get a solid number on it ......He wants to get it dynoed now , anybody got some dyno numbers on one of these trucks ?

yeah even my 150 hp programs won't puke unless you put 12000 pounds behind a truck that is already 9200 pounds...... don't ask me how I know...lol

the gaskets won't last if the boost exceeds 24PSI. They don't even last @ 24PSI (Stock).

The gaskets are not the problem, it is the head bolts.....they stretch. Then after you put studs in you have to worry about heat flash into the EGR Cooler. The gaskets are as good as you can get, install head studs, block the egr cooler and all problems are solved.

The sniper default programs actually make all that power on Less boost than stock most of the time.... Very good tunes.

Agreed the sniper tunes are very very safe. Studs and kill the EGR cooler and youre good to go up to around 600ish hp. If youre going ot push big boost w/ aftermarket turbos fire rings are a good plan. The bottom end of a 6.0 is actually stouter imho than a 7.3 due to being a bed plate design. The nice thing a 6.0 has over the 7.3 is rpms.

Watch the boost and dont be stupid w/ the timing and stock gaskets stand a chance.

Good to know Pat. About the boost not being raised. Sounds like you guys really did your homework. Will Recomend Sniper to any Cust who wants to Mod thier 6.0!!
Or any Gas for that matter.
