Question about polishing the housing ????

Post by geoffav » Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:58 pm

 I'm thinking I could polish the housing to match the other bling under the hood. It won't be anytime soon but are there any issues with removal/reinstall of the sensor????

I already have the AT bits but wanted to verify it simply pulls out and there are no special precautions. ;)

You should not hrut anything by taking it out. Be carfule not to force anything to come out.

Thanks, looks pretty easy but I wanted to make sure.

It's gonna look good polished. 8-)

I ordered some other parts today to clean up the underhood appearance. I should have the housing all polished in a week or so. 8-)

Make sure you include some pics when done.

I've had other projects and work holding me back so I just got around to starting this today.

I usually see how paste and hand rubbing does first.

It was a big improvement but will need a few hours against the buffer and some TLC.

After about 2 minutes of work with a bare buffer it looks better yet. I should have some finished pics in a few days.

The flange is the only rough part. I was going to knock it off to do the cut and polish and then press it back on. After thinking about it, I'm going to tape around the tube and do the flange first. This should look real nice when done. 8-) 8-)

either I am being blinded by the shine or the pic is too dark to see the meter.

Correct on both accounts. :o

It was late when I did the pics and the flash really made the thing look bad. The picture without the flash is too dark but does demo how smooth the finish is getting. I may end up installing it tonight, my DD is having a suspension issue. If that's the case, I'll have to complete the polish job later. :x

Well my Jeep has some bad ball joints and needs rear brakes so I had to put the Mustang back together tonight. :o

The polish job will have to wait for a few weeks. 8-)
