How to Calculating “Air Flow Through Throttle Body”.

Post by Rich A » Tue Nov 13, 2018 2:20 pm

With the car at normal operating temperature and the engine off.
Unplug the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC).

Start the car and datalog the Mass Air Flow (MAF) flow rate (kg/hr) at idle.

After compiling a datalog, turn the car off.
Plug the IAC back in.

Calculate your average MAF flow rate (kg/hr) at idle,
now it is time to calculate the “Air Flow Through Throttle Body”.

kg/hr x 0.0367 = “Air Flow Through Throttle Body”

Example:
14.99 x 0.0367 = .5501

Now plug your numbers into the Scalar “Air Flow Through Throttle Body”.

Note:
Any adjustments to the Throttle Body (TB) idle screw will change your
MAF flow rate (kg/hr) at idle and will also change your
“Air Flow Through Throttle Body” scalar number.
