Interface lost all my tunes including the stock file

Post by Dcwarz » Sat Nov 03, 2007 12:44 pm

SES light came on so I checked codes pulled a P0175 = bank 2 rich. So I go to adjust the tune and install the new tune into the interface but it is TOTALLY BLANK.

Zero, No tunes listed and won't let me load any onto the interface from my PC.

OK how do I recover from this mess?

Anyone?

are the tunes saved on your computer ? Try reloading your tune to your interface and see what happens

sounds like you are having a multiloader issue.... does it even show your bullets correctly?

OK, I found the problem. And it is a Bill Gates issue. :x

After talking to Sniper on Saturday, poor Alex mistakenly answered the phone, we tried re-installing SF, then the drivers, then a different USB port, a different cable but nothing fixed the problem.

Well a about a week ago I let Windows XP update my PC and right afterwards it screwed up my monitor settings real bad so I figured that "update" might have caused some other issues that just didn't surface immediately.

So I restored my PC to the day before the update and the interface worked perfectly just as it should.

All the files were still on the interface and I loaded a new one to make sure all was well and it was. :D

So watch out for those Windows updates out there, they do more the just update.

Thanks Alex for all your help. I don't have to send back the interface. :D

Just to answer the questions to me.

Tunes were saved on my PC so that was OK. But I could not download any of them to the interface when this happened, in fact trying to do so locked up my PC for 15 minutes.

The connedtion to the interface displayed a message: "There is a problem connecting to the Interface". Thne the Multiloader just displayed a "blank" interface window. No tunes, not even the Original stock tune in position 6.

After the "restore" all the tunes were there. I suspect that the Windows XP update redirected the driver I/O function or other characteristics now allowing it to connect to the interface properly. Since the Sniper software is not "Microsoft" approved glitches can occur at times.

Im a master of paranoia so i have an separate install of Windows xp that does not do anything except write tunes and data log. it never connects to the internet and has nothing els installed except the drivers for my hardware.

cuz being a pc technician i know Microsoft likes to screw other ppl's software up with careless coding and wrong hardware identifying in there updates.

Juggalo_X.....

Good idea.

Being what I consider an intermediate PC user in knowledge by having struggled with DOS up through XP, is this something someone like myself can set up fairly simply?

Partition the drive with any drive partitioning utility. then install like normal when the windows install asks what partition to be installed on direct it to the blank and newly created partition. windows will then configure a boot loader giving you the option to boot from what ever os you like at boot.

Just a partition.

Got it, simple enough. I've done that before.......... way in the past.

Thanks,

no problem, just remember XP is the only OS that can modify a boot loader to use 2 os installs. any earlier version of windows will require a third party boot manager.
